Taste of Wrath A Sin du Jour Affair Matt Wallace Books

I was rather reluctant to start this book, since I knew it was the last in the series—a cause of sadness in itself—and its predecessor, Gluttony Bay, had been almost painfully dark. I need not have worried, however: it is, in fact, a perfect ending to this excellent series. I felt that its mixture of losses/grief and hope was exactly right.

As one might expect from the last book in a series, readers will not get much out of this story if they haven’t read the earlier books. If they have, though, and have come to care considerably (as I did) about the bizarre gang of cooks and other staff of Sin du Jour, catering company to the stars of the supernatural world, I think they will enjoy it a lot. There’s plenty of the series’s trademark humor, though some of it is bittersweet. Numerous characters, or groups of characters, from the earlier books reappear and take fitting places in the final battle. Questions are answered and story lines are wrapped up nicely. My only regret is that I really wish that the series could continue.

Taste of Wrath A Sin du Jour Affair Matt Wallace Books Reviews

So this is the last book of this funny, wild bit of outrageousness that ended up touching my heart. I wasn't sure how it would end, but it turned out well. This is a series i shall enjoy rereading.
.
This is still an enjoyable world with a delightful cast and suitable mayhem. Unfortunately, I read the series on my tablet. Had I invested in the paper format, I could have re-read the series to clarify who was who.
I've been waiting for this book as much as I've been dreading it. How would this series based on the 7 Deadly Sins end? The answer is satisfyingly. I laughed, teared up, and wished for more. These characters are real, the situations are unreal, and that's perfect.

You can't really read this without having read the rest of the books. Since the version is cheap, get the whole damn series and dive in.
I loved this series and I hate that it is done. I hope more with come of it in the future. I think it would be an awesome tv series. That being said this is one of the best series endings I have read. Not everyone made it out which is realistic given the situation. However the ending left me satisfied as well as sad. Can't wait to read what Matt does next.
I was so sad that this was the final book in this hilarious series! And the loss of one of the main characters (SPOILER) kind of left me cold. Still, I was glad to see the results of all the hard work and battling the forces of evil that the Sin Du Jour gang have done in the past books. I was also glad that there was an appearance by the almighty dog....only these books could pull off so many ridiculous battles and leave you feeling elated rather that crying in your cornflakes. Still, I will never, ever look at chicken nuggets the same way again. Thanks, Matt Wallace, LOL
It's hard to review the final book in a seven book series without spoiling it, but let me just say that it was a wild ride and deeply satisfying. Wallace pulled no punches and no one was safe in the final showdown between the Sin du Jour crew and their opponents. But there was still plenty of humor among the pathos and some really lovely moments of redemption. The goblins (and especially their council and general) were everything I ever wanted and more.

I'm a little sad that it's over, but looking forward to someday revisiting them all in one big binge read.
A very satisfying end to the 7-novella series started in Envy of Angels. To be honest, I was getting depressed and dragged down by the dark tone of the past few books and wondered if the end would be worth it. Answer-definitely! Wallace has brought the best of the series into his sweeping finale. I can't put any spoilers here, but his mythology/pop reference mashups are legend! I didn't think he could top what he had accomplished in previous entries and he decided to make a giant liar out of me. If snark mixed with heart and a large dollop of WTF? are what's missing in your life, then this series is the cure! If you've been reading the series from the beginning, then you know what I'm talking about. If not, then you need to find out!
