Kate Noble tells a good story. I've enjoyed all her books so far, and this is no exception. Even if historical romances are always to some degree improbable, they can still incorporate important takeaways. The takeaway here is the importance of common interests and temperaments in successful relationships. This was a tough lesson for our hero but he finally figured it out. And in a secondary storyline, our stepmother learned important lessons about raising and relating to and caring about stepchildren.

Good plot. Excellent choice of characters. We'll rounded. Worth reading more then once. One of many by this author I'm sure.
This is the first book I have read by this author. I really liked it. It was for the most part a light romp, and that's what I liked about it. There were several parts where I laughed out loud.
Gail (Who speaks 13 languages including pig latin) and her sister Evangeline (lovely, well spoken) become caught up in a love triangle or should I say quadrangle. This book was refreshing, not stuffy, not complicated just a nice read. I loved Maximillian St. John, Viscount Fontaine (why do they have to have so many names) I loved Gail, Evangeline, Will and even Romilla, whom I must confess there were times in the book where I didn't care for her as she appeared to act like the "wicked stepmother" in the end she redeemed herself
It does not look like there was enough for a jaded reader, but I am really glad that I read it after all. Cute and fun and a moment of astonishment that made me keep it forever.
I loved this book, couldn't put it down! I highly recommend if you're looking for a good regency. Not sure why it had less than 4 stars on Goodreads, but I'm picky with giving out 5 and this one deserved it! I'll be checking out another Kate Noble book next.
This was my first book by Kate Noble, and I must say it was a pleasant surprise. It starts off very slow, and the heroine initially comes off as silly, and it looks as though the older sister and stepmother are just going to be cliched characters. But Ms. Noble is able to give her characters depth, and to make them complex. It is beautifully written how the H/H develop a friendship that turns into love. This is a witty and tender book.
I found the characters, in particular the heroine, superficially sketched out at best and annoying at worst. However, its a historical romance. I will keep reading to see if the 'romance' or even the fun sexy times make it worth my while. After all the hero and heroine haven't even met yet. So here we go they are meeting in a typically tumultuous way in that the hero's d-bag horse has a crush on the heroines new female horse and runs at her in full gallop at 700 am in a park. She panics (and he yells, helpfully - as he is obviously completely unable to control his horse "Move! Move out of the way!") and turns the scene into a full on chase across the park ending up with both of them being thrown off their horses into about a foot of muddy river water. Then this happens
She ends up (of course), drenched and lying across his lap. After a brief are you all right from him she asks him to take his hand off her butt and gets a bit snarky when he doesn't comply asking if he is deaf. His response is (I kid you not!!!)
"If I weren't before I may as well be so now." followed by, "Now remove yourself from my lap, you hellion, unless you want me to take what you are so carelessly offering."
Her response is a huffed "Oh!". That is her entire response. So even if the hero goes through some extreme transformation from complete rape culture promoting d-bag, the heroine's lack of character, substance, humor or depth made the reading the rest of this book seem like a poor proposition and I've got lots of better things to do.
So... full disclosure This review is based only on the first 8% (according to my e-reader) of the novel. But that line about what the heroine is 'so carelessly offering' continued to turn my stomach for days afterwards to the point that I was compelled to write this review. Have to read a really amazing hero and heroine in order to expunge this blech from my brain. Open to suggestions.
Compromised by Kate Noble is a really fun historical romance novel. It is the type of book that, as you read, gets more and more frustrating and you want to yell at the characters to "FIGURE IT OUT ALREADY!" I love the type of plot line in which the characters are determined to do (or be) one thing, as the reader is quickly made aware that they should be doing the opposite. I think it's a really great way to get readers invested in the character's lives incredibly quickly - you can't help but want to see how long things take to get right!
Max Fontaine falls into insta-lust with one of two sisters, Evangeline. He falls into insta-annoyance with the other, Gail. He and Evangeline quickly find themselves in a compromising position that forces him (although he is, in fact, willing) to propose. As they try to get to know each other, Gail is always along for the ride acting as her sister's chaperon. Max eventually discovers that Gail's personality might be even more alluring than Evangeline's beauty - but it's too late to do anything about it. Right?
Like I already said - this was so much fun to read. Gail's personality really is very addictive she is extremely witty and hilariously abrasive. Evangeline was a little harder to like, just because her character was much more subdued....but she is by no means a villain. Max's character had to grow on me a little bit, since he was initially so shallow (immediately thinking he loves Evangeline just because she is beautiful). However - it's really hard not to fall for him after seeing his reactions to being in Gail's company. It isn't just their chemistry that's electric - the way their personalities switch between clashing and melding is very charming to read.
Overall, this novel is very appealing lighthearted and fun. The characters will quickly grow on you and you'll have to keep reading to find out how their stories turn out! If you're a fan of historical romance, Kate Noble is definitely a must-read author.
