The Wary Widow The Wetherby Brides Book 3 edition by Jerrica KnightCatania Romance eBooks Reviews
4.5 out of 5 stars!! This novel proves that no matter what you do, you have to go along with your heart. I LOVED all of the characters in this book, as well as, the plot!!! Andrew was like a sly fox but you couldn't help but root for him and his endeavors. While Chloe was still learning about who she was now since her husband and best friend passed away, not wanting to move on even though she knew she should, and always trying to be everyone else's needs/wants above her own. THEN add in both Chloe and Andrew's families and it seemed there was one hilarity or another to keep you entertained and hoping for more!!
I recommend this to anyone who enjoys Regency romance novels!! Or to whoever has read the first two novels already in this series!

Chloe and Elizabeth. Two girls, similar in age (just a mere few months apart), yet so different in circumstances and looks. Elizabeth, the darling belle of the ball with a hot hunky fiance. Chloe, the poor widow, who is despatched from the country to chaperone Elizabeth. Chloe was pretty content with her lot in life until she ran into Elizbaeth's brooding fiance and, of course, sparks fly. Would they be bound by duty or would they follow their hearts?
A pretty engaging read (although a bit draggy at the end) with a cast of interesting characters. A unique point of this novel is that there isn't necessarily one really evil or bad character (often in such scenarios, the bride to be is depicted as a witch, but in this case, you get to see her side of the story as well).
Okay, so I knew that this wasn't going to be a deep, meaningful tale when I bought it. But I figured I could pass a few hours with some relatively mindless, fluff reading. What I didn't expect was all the predictability and repetitiveness, however. They can't be together because he's engaged to her cousin! Her cousin would be heartbroken! They can't possibly hope for a future because of her cousin! Whatever will her cousin think? What are they to do about her cousin? It got to the point where I'd just roll my eyes and read on. And the further in we got, the more predicable it got. I won't give you spoilers, but nothing about this story was a surprise.
For personal gripe, I also didn't like the font, nor the way it was set.
2 stars. I'd give this book a pass.
If you like your hero and heroine to be despicably selfish and abominably callous then you will enjoy The Wary Widow.
There were many flaws to this novel both historically and grammatically. This can be difficult to ignore but if you're willing to suspend belief and kick the English language to the curb you'll still have to do battle with the gaping plot holes.
The most obvious of which is that Lady Elizabeth's family would enlist a 19 year old cousin who was raised on a pig farm, widowed after a week of marriage, has no experience of London and no knowledge of acceptable social etiquette to chaperone Elizabeth on her first London season.
Add to this unbelievable mix the fact that Lady Elizabeth's mother happens to be alive and kicking and enjoys attending balls and social functions with her daughter and niece and you start to wonder how the story came to be written in the first place
Chloe and Andrew are the two most hateful main characters I have ever read about.
Sorry guys but actions speak louder than words and saying that that you don't want to hurt poor Elizabeth doesn't mean much when you proceed to do so in every way (and position) possible!
They justify their actions by convincing themselves that Elizabeth isn't in love with Andrew. Personally I felt that the poor girls' desperate attempts to get her fiancé to show her even the slightest sign of affection said "love" more clearly than Chloe's lust ever did.
I was not rooting for this couple, I felt they were arrogant and selfish and Chloe's conviction that Elizabeth would eventually forgive her made me want to slap her across the face.
By all means read this novel if you have an urge to feel uncontrollable rage and hatred towards a fictional character. But if you're in the mood for love and romance best you look elsewhere.
Chloe Hawthorne is asked to chaperone her cousin Lady Elizabeth during the many balls and parties during the London Season, and as she lost her husband a few short months after marriage she is in mourning and wears black gowns as she goes about her duties. Once Elizabeth plots to get rid of her widow's garb then she realizes she needs to start living again.
Lord Andrew Wetherby is Elizabeth's intended groom but he notices Chloe's personality as well as her beauty while hs squires his bride to functions but starts to realize he is attracted to more than her smile and sees Chloe as a woman he could spend his life with.
He talks his twin brother, Michael, into passing himself off as Andrew and tries to have an affair with Chloe but her morals won't have it. Until a family emergency throws the two together and more blossoms under their unrestricted time together and then Andrew KNOWS he must break off his charade of an engagement.
This book kept my interest and was a fast read on my and I liked the characters having flaws and seeing beyond them wanting to be with each other against all odds.
